Well-Being Walk
21st Jan 2026
This week our Amber Flag Committee set up our Well-Being Walk in collaboration with our Active School Committee.
The well-being walk is a signposted walking route created around our yard that encourages students to be active, reflect, and focus on their mental and physical wellbeing as they move.
How It Works:
- Marked Route: We set up a route with numbered signs around the yard
- Pause and Practice: At each sign, students stop and do a simple wellbeing activity, for example breathing exercises, mindfulness prompts, or short reflective tasks.
- Movement + Mindfulness: The focus isn’t just on walking; it’s on connecting movement with wellbeing, such as rainbow breathing, listening to birds, mindful standing postures, or noticing colours and nature.
Benefits:
- Physical Activity: Encourages walking and gentle movement during the school day.
- Mental Well-Being: Incorporates mindful tasks to help calm the mind, reduce stress and improve focus.
- Inclusive + Easy: Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, no special equipment needed, and outdoor space is used creatively.
