We received this notice from the HSE. A free nasal vaccine is available for all children. The HSE hope all families will avail of this before returning to school in January.
This year the Department of Health launched the Nasal Flu vaccine which is free to all children from age two to twelve years.
Thankfully the flu season has not arrived early so there is still time for children to receive this important vaccine free from their GP.
Children are super-spreaders of the flu infection and can be infectious for more than 10 days which is twice as long as adults.
They are more likely than adults to get severe complications of flu.
Children who are sick with flu miss school as well as their usual hobbies and sports.
