First Term

4th Jan 2022

The children in 4th class had a very busy  first term in school. They learned about the story 'The Children of Lir' and recreated scenes from the story using cardboard, clay and paint as well as getting into character for a bit of role-playing.

As it is of utmost importance that children can instantly recall their timetables in 4th class, everyone has been working hard on speeding up their recall through weekly teaching stations. The children were also learning about length and perimeter in maths and were lucky to avail of some outdoor learning!

We also had a great time on our lead up to Christmas, firstly the classroom was decorated and each child received a gift from under our class christmas tree, then, the children got to research the Arctic and take a look at pictures of Santa's house and the village he and the elves live in. After, the children worked in groups and built Santa's village out of recyclable materials. Each building that the children created had to contain a working LED light. Therefore it was necessary that the children applied their knowledge from the 'electricity' topic taught prior to this challenge.
