Bubble Science

16th Nov 2021

During Science Week 5th class had a wonderful time making, creating and investigating bubbles!

They worked on their scientific skills of experimenting, analysing, recording and communicating.

We began by creating our own homemade bubble mixture and discussed the composition of the mixture, the ratios of each ingredient and their purpose within the mixture.

Then everyone was set the task of making a bubble that would stay on the desk and we tried to enlarge the bubble once it was created. When we had that mastered we then tried to create another bubble inside the first bubble. Our record was 5 bubbles in 1! We finally worked on creating a bubble on our hand without it popping.

It was interesting to see how certain ingredients in our bubble mixture helped our bubbles last longer and also what conditions were needed in order to create our bubbles.

A lot of trial and error made for a fun lesson, full of learning and scientific reasoning!
